TASK 1

Notes: In “greetings” the tone rises at the end of the last word.

TASK 2

Read the informations given.

Greeting is a kind of question or statement to begin a conversation. The greetings depend on the situation.

Example of formal greetings:

  1. We say “Good morning” when we meet early in the morning between 1 a.m. to 12 a.m. in the middle of the day.
  2. We say “Good day” when we meet someone in the middle of the day at around 12 a.m.
  3. We say “Good afternoon” when we meet someone in the afternoon between 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  4. We say “Good evening” when we meet someone in the evening at around 6 p.m. to 11. p.m.

Besides saying Good morning, good afternoon or Good evening, we can also greet someone with informal greetings like: - How ‘s everything with you?

- Good to see you again,

- How’s life? Etc.

We can say the informal greetings to someone that we have already known before. Informal greeting can be said at any time of the day.
